Politics is hard. Frederick Mountain Group prides itself on running thoughtful, factual campaigns for political candidates and groups seeking to make a positive impact in their communities. We have a political division of our organization that specializes in full-service public relations, marketing, and political strategy.

In 2026, we were presented with one of our most unique challenges: helping a grassroots political action committee with two volunteers mount a successful statewide campaign to oust candidates and incumbents trying to defund schools, hospitals, police, fire, EMS, the University, libraries, and cities and towns.

The challenge was that we had less than 80 days until the primary election. The opposition had already raised and started deploying hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising.

Our Approach:

The PAC had a basic website, 12 billboards, and a Facebook page. They had purchased about $15,000 worth of digital ads from online news outlets. They did not have a brand. They had a simple message: “Vote Out the Freedom Caucus.” They called us in late May; ads went live June 1.

First 10 Days:

We quickly worked with the volunteers to better refine and define their message and their goals, and how they wanted to achieve them. We redesigned the website and the logo within 10 days. We created customized landing pages for their digital ads. We revamped the social media page. We created branded email addresses. We implemented an email marketing system.

First 30 Days:

We supported the team with public relations management. Their rollout generated significant attention and prompted many questions. We helped them manage the media inquiries and coverage.

We then built candidate questionnaires to help them vet candidates for endorsements. It is not enough to be against something. We believe strong campaigns provide accurate, truthful visions for the future that voters can understand and embrace. We helped them create long-form advertorials. We helped with video production and editing, creating short-form content that provided accurate information to better explain why they were against this particular bloc of politicians.

We put together a functional budget to best leverage their limited funds throughout the primary campaign.

Days 31-80:

We helped them structure and organize a large-scale voter information event. We provided branded informational materials and helped with the event layout to best connect potential voters with prospective candidates.

Voters and donors were impressed and provided additional funding, which we quickly turned into ads for radio, print media, and digital media within 36 hours.

The campaign earned national attention, including a mention in The New York Times. The only other PACs mentioned had million-dollar budgets.

Results:

  • The PAC’s Facebook audience grew 1,445%: from 150 followers in May to 2,317 by primary day.
  • Facebook organic views increased by more than 1,000%. The PAC generated 26,157 organic views from February 1 through May 31. After FMG began its work, organic views reached 293,091 between June 1 and August 18, despite the shorter reporting period.
  • They went from 10 to 20 active users per day on their website to 1,500 users per day. They had nearly 19,000 visitors throughout the campaign (May 24th through August 19th).

Most importantly, 28 out of the 33 seats they supported won their races (84%).
